Stadium Shakeups, Hero Tweaks, and a Tiny Bit of Salt


Hey heroes! 🌈 A fresh balance patch just landed for Overwatch 2, and if you’re spending as much time in Stadium as I am lately, you’ll definitely want to peek at what’s changed. Blizzard’s aiming this hotfix squarely at overperforming Powers, busted builds, and heroes who’ve been raking in a bit too much Stadium Cash.

Let’s dive into the May 1 updates — now with 100% more hero emojis for flavor!


🏟️ Stadium Mode – Balance Highlights


This update isn’t a massive rework, but more of a spring cleaning. Some abilities were getting way out of hand (looking at you, Pulsar Torpedo 👀), and others just needed to be reeled in a touch. The devs also adjusted how much Stadium Cash heroes earn from damage and healing — so no more gold hoarding without effort!


🛡️ Tank Heroes


🛩️ D.Va


  • Nano Cola™ Nitrous
    • Health down to 25 (from 50)
    • Max Life bonus down to 5% (from 25%)
    • Nano Boost now lasts 4s (down from 8s)
  • Busan Blaster
    • No more Ultimate Charge farming 😔

💬 Dev Note: Out-of-mech D.Va was just a bit too chill — like, unkillable chill. These changes add some much-needed danger back to baby D.Va’s life.


🐂 Orisa


  • Restortify healing reduced to 5%/sec (from 10%)
  • Solar Regenergy armor restored now 3% Max Life (down from 5%)

💬 Dev Note: Invincible robo-cow energy was too real. Time to tone it down a notch.


🛡️ Reinhardt


  • Stadium Cash earnings reduced by 13.64%

💬 Dev Note: Too much value for hammer time. Less gold, more glory.


💪 Zarya


  • Lifelift barrier scaling now 50% of bonus Max Life (was 100%)
  • Here to Spot You healing bumped to 20% Max Life over 3s (up from 15%)

💬 Dev Note: They’re trying to diversify Zarya builds, but…
😤 My Note: Honestly, a little sad to see any buff go her way — she’s already such a powerhouse in Stadium.


🎯 Damage Heroes


❄️ Mei


  • Coulder got a big knockback rework:
    • 60% less frequent, but hits harder
    • Each bump now does 20 damage (up from 10)

💬 Dev Note: No more Mei-pinball. Now it’s more like Mei-bowling. 🎳


💀 Reaper


  • Stadium Cash earnings down by 10%

💬 Dev Note: Turns out the man who never misses a paycheck was making too much.


🎖️ Soldier: 76


  • Cash earnings down 12.5%
  • Rocket Visor duration now 0.5s (down from 0.75s)
  • Biotic Bullseye ammo restored per crit increased to 10% (from 5%)

💬 Dev Note: We love seeing Soldier played more, but Rocket Visor was a little too spicy. Reeling it back just a tad.


🩺 Support Heroes


🦊 Kiriko


  • Stadium Cash earnings reduced by 16.67%

💬 Dev Note: Kiriko was just stacking coins like she had a shrine to fund.


🛸 Juno


  • Cash earnings up 33.33% 💸
  • Cosmic Coolant cooldown per target hit is now 0.5s (was 1s)
  • PulStar Destroyers
    • -15% Ability Power ❌
    • +10% Ability Lifesteal ✅
  • Solar Shielding Ability Power dropped to 15% (from 25%)

💬 Dev Note: Juno mains, this one’s for you. Less oppressively floaty torpedoes, more love for alt builds.


🎧 Lúcio


  • Cash earnings up 10%
  • Crowd Pleaser healing now 150% of Crossfade (was 200%)
  • Megaphone Amp It Up duration down to 15%
  • Signature Shift projectile size is now huge — 80% up from 20%
  • B-Side Bop Health buffed to 50 (from 25)

💬 Dev Note: Buffing the underdog builds! Weapon Lúcio gets some love, and Amp spammers get a tiny nerf.


🧠 Final Thoughts (aka: Me Venting Slightly)


All in all, this patch is a solid step in the right direction. It’s clear the devs are watching Stadium like a hawk, trying to stop runaway builds from dominating and encouraging more creativity in loadouts. 🙌

But hey — as a Zarya victim, I gotta say… it’s kind of baffling that she got a buff (even if it’s to a lesser-used power). Life lift’s still around and still way too good in a lot of scenarios. Fingers crossed for a deeper balance pass next time. 🤞
