Hero Reworks And Perk Shakeups
This patch hits almost every hero in the roster. Here are some of the most important updates.
Roadhog Reverted: His Scrap Gun returns to classic primary and secondary fire, Take A Breather is back on ability two, and perks now reward extending hook distance and pulling enemies.
D.Va: Heavy Rockets is gone, replaced by Precision Fusion which reduces cannon spread for tighter DPS windows.
Doomfist: Seismic Empowerment replaced by Aftershock, adding a slow effect to Seismic Slam. Power Matrix now builds empowered punch through absorbed damage.
Hazard: Huge nerfs. Jagged Walls HP cut, spike guard ammo regen restricted, and perks moved around with new explosive impalement mechanics.
Junker Queen: Gains unstoppable and full cooldown refresh on Rampage. Jagged Blade recall radius doubled.
Ramattra: Armor down from 300 to 250 in Nemesis form, barrier perk replaced with Relentless Form to extend uptime through eliminations.
Reinhardt: Now regenerates barrier while charging and can gain attack speed through Fire Strikes with the new Ignited FURY perk.
Sojourn: Base health down, but higher fire rate, faster Power Slide, disruptor slows enemies, and sliding generates energy. Overall a sneaky buff.
Tracer: Recall cooldown increased to 13 seconds, but melee hits now grant ammo through the Kinetic Reload perk.
Support Updates:
- Ana gets movement speed back on Nano Boost, a throwback to OG Overwatch.
- Moira can toggle Coalescence between pure damage or healing, and gets new perks like orb reversal and Fade buffs.
- Mercy sees nerfs across her perks, but gains a new reload-based team buff.
- Kiriko now gains attack and reload speed on Swift Step.
- Lifeweaver health reduced, perks restructured with allies gaining attack speed on his platforms.
And that’s just scratching the surface. Dozens of perk reworks hit heroes like Orisa, Sigma, Sombra, Symmetra, Bastion, Cassidy, Mei, Echo, and more.
Stadium Quickplay And Payload Race
Season 18’s biggest headline is Stadium Quickplay, a five round faster format where powers unlock on rounds one, two, three, and five. It finally allows crossplay and backfill, with catch up currency for replacements. Players now need to win 10 Stadium quickplay games before unlocking competitive, keeping fresh players out of ranked chaos.
Payload Race is the new flagship mode, with both teams pushing their own payload at once. It’s fast, strategic, and launches with two maps: Powder Keg Mines (Route 66) and Thess District (Kings Row). A new Oasis Gardens control map with jump pads also joins the Stadium rotation.
New Stadium Heroes
Three heroes arrive at Stadium this season:
- Winston brings electric synergy powers, mini barriers, and chain lightning.
- Pharah rains destruction with tanky Rocket Barrage builds, triple rocket volleys, and extended flight.
- Brigitte offers berserker whirl flail attacks, extended whip shots, and versatile healing builds.
Tracer will join the roster mid season, rounding out a stacked lineup.
Ranked, Rewards, And Quality Of Life
- Ranked Requirements: 10 quickplay wins needed before Stadium competitive unlocks.
- Elite Rewards: Role specific epic skins (Reinhardt, Mei, Ana).
- All Star Reward: Legendary D.Va skin.
- Lever Compensation: Reduced losses when a teammate leaves.
- Dynamic SR Adjustments: Gains and losses tuned by match length and closeness.
Progression 2.0 finally rewards dedication with hero specific prestige borders at levels 20, 40, and 60, while Hero Skill Rating shows your true rank per hero. The Advanced Hero Info Panel lets you see real time stats in game. And for data junkies, the new Hero Stats website publishes live pick, win, and ban rates across modes.
Stadium Item Changes
General items also got reworked with health buffs, stat tweaks, and cost adjustments. New survival items like Ballistic Buffer and reworked vitality amplifiers give players more flexibility to counter threats. Stadium’s armory is being tuned into a true adaptive toolbox.
This Is A Patch For The Ages
Season 18 is nothing short of a reinvention. Nearly every hero feels fresh, Stadium is growing into a full fledged mode of its own, and the new systems for progression and competitive ranking are game changing. Whether you’re grinding quickplay, pushing for elite rewards, or testing wild perk builds, there’s something to explore for everyone.
