KarQ is back with a fresh round of Mythbusters, this time putting Wu Yang under the microscope. From Genji deflect shenanigans to Tidal Blast counters, here are the rapid fire results you can actually use in your games.

TL;DR Wins And Busts

  • Genji does not control your empowered orb on deflect
  • Amp Matrix does not double boost curved orbs or Guardian Wave
  • Guardian Wave heals a flat 80, gets reduced by the DPS passive, and ignores Ana’s heal amp for its own number
  • Sombra can cancel your Rushing Torrent and interrupt Guardian Wave if she hacks during the cast
  • Tidal Blast cannot be canceled by breaking the 400 overhealth, but can be nullified by Venture Burrow or Mei Cryo if they stay inside long enough
  • Echo can copy Wu Yang and stack Tidal Blasts on the same target
  • Wu Yang gets damage credit for Tidal Blast, but no ult charge

Orb And Deflect Myths

  • Deflect control: Genji cannot steer your empowered orb. It flies straight back.
  • Triple orb returns: Falling Rain’s three mini orbs can be deflected one by one at max spread, but most of the time Genji bumps all three back together.
  • Amp Matrix curve: Snaking an orb through Bap window twice does not double amplify. One boost only.

Guardian Wave Rules

  • Matrix interaction: D.Va Defense Matrix does not eat Guardian Wave.
  • Uphill limit: Guardian Wave climbs slopes up to roughly 1.8 meters, then stops.
  • Heal stacking: Guardian Wave’s 80 heal does not stack with Ana Biotic Grenade’s amp. It stays 80.
  • DPS passive: Damage role passive reduces the 80 to 56, which works as intended.
  • Barriers: If a barrier blocks the wave, the return starts at the contact point. Walk forward and you can still get tagged on the way back.
  • Damage boosts: Being damage boosted does not change the 33 percent resource refund when you cast Guardian Wave.
  • Hack timing: Hack or EMP during the cast will stop the wave. If the wave is already out, it finishes its path both ways.
  • Amp Matrix: Bap window does not amp the healing or the damage portion of Guardian Wave.

Rushing Torrent Movement

  • Jump tech: You can hit some classic jumps with Torrent’s bonus height.
  • Slows: You still hit the 25 m/s burst under slows like Mei, but you lose speed faster.
  • Mines: Clearing Ball mines with a single jump is unreliable. You might thread the needle on the edge with luck.
  • Hack: Getting hacked during Torrent wipes your speed instantly.

Tidal Blast Interactions

  • Overhealth break: Burning through the 400 overhealth does not cancel the stun. The detonation still lands.
  • Burrow and Cryo: Venture Burrow and Mei Cryo can null the stun if they remain inside until it pops. Leave early and you get stunned.
  • Phase and TP: Most phase or teleport abilities carry the bomb with you, but you can accidentally null it if you are fully invulnerable at detonation. Reaper Wraith is the notable exception that does not null it mid Wraith.
  • Hack and EMP: Neither removes the bomb or its overhealth. EMP just damages the overhealth.
  • Double water bomb: Echo Duplicate can stack Tidal Blasts with Wu Yang for back to back stuns.
  • Rein charge: Charging a bomb wearer is risky. You still get stunned mid pin.
  • Credit: Wu Yang receives the damage credit from the blast. No ult charge is awarded.
